Why a Retro design for Snow White??
For a while I’ve been wanting to make a riveter-inspired design and mix it with a princess, it took about a month for me to decide which princess. After doing many sketches and looking at vintage sewing patterns that had come back into production I saw one for vintage aprons that jumped out to me. Right away I loved the design and placed the order so I could get working.
How I made this Cosplay:
Once the pattern arrived I took a few days thinking over fabrics, while I could have jumped with fancier fabrics to fit the whole princess idea it didn’t fit with the apron style at all. Eventually, I settled with plain cotton fabrics in Yellow and Blue, with a Red satin ribbon to act as a waist tie plus a little bit of extra dimension.
As I started cutting out the fabrics it felt like something was missing, heading back to the store I grabbed two rolls of white tulle to add as a pleated skirt accent. I’m quite happy that I added this extra touch, it was a nice homage to her dress’ petticoat/slip that is seen when she dances in the film.
Ending Thoughts
There's not much I could change with the current design, I love its simple elegance and plan to expand on this fun little concept in the future. Just need to figure out which princess to do next!!
