Why Scanty??

When PASWG first came out I adored it!! The characters are so feisty and while rather 2 dimensional grow ever more complex with some situations as the anime went on. I felt drawn to Scanty in particular due to her love of rules and order, it's how I am with contests and planning builds.

Plus, I kinda have a love for body paint and this was an amazing opportunity to dive back into painting myself.

How I Made this Cosplay:

All of Scanty’s outfit is made from genuine leather, I wanted to give the outfit true bdsm vibes as it really fits the character and anime style. First I 3D Modeled the horns, guns, skirt detail, spikes, and studs, then sent to my printer to be fully finished off.

While those were printing I started drafting patterns for the outfit, using a bra as a base I ripped a pattern for Scanty’s top, getting the straps and bat wing edge for the cups was difficult. But after multiple mock-ups, I made it work and could finally move on to making a mockup for the skirt. At first, I wanted the skirt to have as few seams as possible and attempted a darted pencil skirt, however, the thickness of my leather quickly made it apparent that this would not work. So I altered my pattern like I would a princess seam bodice extending the main seams down and keeping them tight to my body.

With all of my mock-ups finished the accessories were done printing and needed to be post-processed. I started by applying Bondo to all of the pieces and let them sit to dry for a couple of hours, with the help of Java we sat outside sanding all of the studs and spikes for Scanty’s outfit. For the guns, I wanted the handles to feel a bit more like wood, so I used a wood filler to smooth that portion. Since the wood filler took longer to dry we worked on it last, but the finishing techniques are the same as regular prints.

Now that all of my accessories have been smoothed it's time for painting, to have a bit of extra dimension between items I used two different silvers. Starting with a base coat of grey filler primer, I used a Chromatic Silver on the spikes, and a silver acrylic ink on the studs. The Horns were also painted using red acrylic ink, but to prep them I used a grey filler primer and then a coat of clear gloss to add a smooth base.

Now that all my extra bits are done I can finish out the ensemble!! Leather seams on tight-fitting clothes should be glued and sewn, I used a classic fabric adhesive for this, but you may also use leather-specific adhesives. Sewing everything together was quite easy and simple, the hardest part was burnishing all of the edges. To get smooth edges with leather they need to be trimmed, have a slicking agent applied, and then smoothed with a burnishing tool.

Ending Thoughts

I am so happy with how this cosplay turned out, even though my time wearing it at Colossalcon 21 wasn't the best due to the green room losing AC I still had fun chatting with my fellow contestants.
