My First Cosplay Contest ☆ Story Time

My first competition was a mess!! Let’s talk about it, lol.

I decided to enter my first contest on a whim with a few friends, including the wonderful Dr. Frog, we had spent the summer and autumn making a pair of feathered wings for a greek inspired harpy. It took so long and was much more than we could handle at the time, but we were just happy to be making something and having fun together. Along with the harpy I also sewed up a pair of minotaur pants and horns for my friend Julian, he had acquired a pair of dry walling stilts and wanted to use them with a costume, thus sparking the idea for the group.

When we signed up for the contest a lot was going on, we didn’t have a clue what would be in store for us and it did not make it any easier. I was massively unprepared for anything, no photos, sketches of our idea, nothing, all I had was my words and even those failed me. The anxiety and panic of going in front of the judges toppled me and left me a bawling mute mess. It was so embarrassing looking back on that day, especially when I consider how far I’ve come now.
