Light Fantastic 2021

Watch the fun here, or read below

Another Light Fantastic is here and gone!! I frickin love this event so much, this year was a bit of an off year for me. As some of you know a new little star is joining our family and we are super excited. This, however, did mean light fantastic was a bit different and not as easy as in the past.

We arrived Thursday to have a bit of downtime and to let me get some extra rest before the weekend became super hectic. I'm thankful we made that choice as I was getting my butt kicked by morning sickness and just not feeling so hot with my body.

The first official shoot of the weekend was my Bunny suit Ishtar from Uwowo Cosplay, I got to shoot this with Hayley Stein. Before the shoot started I let her know how I was feeling and what I didn't want to highlight during the shoot. Primarily my growing bump was screwing with my self-confidence and I just felt pretty awful about myself.

The rest of Friday was pretty smooth, and in the evening I got ready for my next shoot with Danielle Braun.

I had a lot of fun making my first edition Raven, but it had some mishaps before the shoot. My broach and belt broke before shooting, but I was only able to fix the belt on short notice. Even still it was a fun little shoot. By the time this one came around I was feeling well enough to do more action-style poses and some jumping to get our floating shots.

Unfortunately, Saturday morning was a complete bust, I woke up incredibly sick and just couldn't get myself out of our cabin. Erik was super understanding about it, so I'm hoping we can shoot my Xerneas at a later date.

As the day went on my first group shoot of the weekend crept closer, won't lie, I was not feeling 100% at all. Yet you know me, I didn't want to let anyone down, so I hopped into my Sailor Pluto v1 cosplay and made the most of it. I definitely pushed myself a bit too hard as I crashed after this shoot. It was worth it though to be with friends and get some super cool photos together. Due to the size of this group, we worked with both Hayley and Danielle so neither would be overwhelmed with photos.

The final shoot of the weekend was for our DnD campaign featuring many Light Fantastic Regulars. My character Vellut(Catalan for Velvet), is a Golden Orb Weaver Drider Sorceress. She spends much of her travel time knitting golden blankets, helping to care for the group's 3 cats, and regularly corresponding with deities.

When we originally wanted to cosplay our characters I had hoped to make a full spider for her. Sadly I didn't get the time, but I'll still be making it a goal of mine to create a full working spider body in the future.
